This set is pending completion July of 2008 - check back shortly for finished photos and photos from our delivery run to Austin, TX. Planned trip dates start July 19th, 2008!
Every year opens with new projects, which is obviously a trend we wish to continue! 2008 offered us the opportunity to create one of our New Wave Gothic dining tables in solid walnut, and extend our line to include a custom server and two matching corner units.
This page will be updated to show the progress through this summer the completed versions of these unique custom commissions. The first photo grouping shows the startup phase of the walnut dining table.
All of the pieces on this page will be in solid American black walnut, featuring our classic gothic tracery panels, also known as piercing or fretwork. The table edges feature hand carved rope patterns, with corbels and rosettes finishing the ornamentation.
Our New Wave Gothic pieces fit into gothic, tudor, renaissance, medieval, jacobean, Elizabethan, periods. In simplified form they are suitable for mission sytles or even country variants. We design and build these pieces by custom commission, making size requirements, selection of materials, and stain/finish all options to suit your requirements. Each piece is solid with mortis and tenon joints that are both glued and pegged.
Shown left, this corner unit, obviously still in progress, shows the basic layout of frames, doors, shelves, and ornamentation. The corner unit will feature smaller versions of the corbels secured to the table, matching with those on the server in this set as well.
All shelves are 6/4" solid walnut, and are fixed in place. Frames are 6/4" in the back and 8/4" in the front. The upper door will be a glass panel, and the lower one a solid wood backed fretwork panel.
Desks, library tables, or other configurations of this piece for use in dining rooms, kitchens, or even as a poker table are available in oak, walnut, cherry, or even mahogany or other materials upon request.
Our walnut gothic server will feature four doors and four drawers, as well as a compartment under the surface section for extra storage. The doors will be fretwork panels that match the table and corner units.
