Artisans designs and builds home entertainment centers in both modern and period styles. Eric's background in electronics and home theater enthusiasm provides the knowledge required to accommodate modern equipment. Units can be fixed permanently in your home, or built as freestanding. Many pieces include industrial casters for improved mobility and hidden access panels to ease the burden of cable hookup. Optional front doors are available to close off your high tech equipment from an otherwise period decor.
Following along the recent theme of our Gothic Dining Table project, we designed and built a New Wave Gothic Entertainment Center.
This project will be a cabinet designed following a medieval theme that will feature ornate iron hardware to accent the quarter sawn oak.
These pieces are "New Wave Gothic," taking their image from the massiveness of their ancestors, while incorporating quarter sawn materials, casters, and other tricks of the modern side of our trade.
Dry fitting the frame and panels is a key step to ensure everything fits properly before committing the assembly with glue, adhesives, and pegs.
Pre-staining and sealing the panels is another important step. This ensure that while the panels can float freely to allow for expansion and contraction, unfinished areas don't suddenly appear. Also it ensures the integrity of the panels by sealing the edges.
