Kicking it off again …

Kicking it off again … Artisans of the Valley, LLC. having learned from our mistakes the last round, mainly shooting for too high in an all or nothing campaign, we’re giving Kickstarter another try with a Manzanita Madness project. This time, all we ask is $100 to start the funding and in return Artisans will start providing our backers with bowls and vases.

Visit the link below for our campaign – visit www.artisansturnings for examples of our turning projects or explore our FB albums.

Thanks – we look forward to turning you your own custom piece!

Stories told of love lost, love found, love redeemed, love remembered, and even perhaps a second chance at love… One Day. One Park. One Bench.

The Vineyard

Our hosts, Sergio and Violetta Neri enjoy the lifestyle of winemakers and patrons of the arts; they are eager to share the experience with those who travel the Delaware River Valley Wine Trail. Their award winning vintages age in their cellars alongside their home, vineyard, and tasting hall. Enjoy an afternoon, stroll through the grape vines in the crisp autumn air, then warm up next to the brick oven, with a glass of wine, while absorbing the smell of baking flat bread.

Artisans Turnings

Artisans of the Valley is announcing the launch of our new collection of abstract and original turnings including bowls, vessels, vases, and ornaments. Our new limited artistic line is a spin-off (figuratively and literally) from our ongoing custom furniture, restoration, and woodcarving work. This has inspired our new website www.artisansturnings.com, which will host our online gallery, artistic videos, and our story.

Our goal is to produce an entirely unique, innovated, and inspiring collection of pieces using sustainable, repurposed, and locally harvested materials. Our first limited release features a variety of manzanita turnings exhibiting the vibrancy of color and contrast of texture contained within an otherwise discarded California scrub tree being harvested in conjunction with efforts to create fire breaks and prevent incursion on roadways.

Manzanita is prized for its beauty, yet repelled for its erratic behaviors, random and potentially dangerous inclusions, and unstable growth patterns. Wood turners are often inspired to attempt working this material, while drawn to its potential most are subdued and repent for their actions. Master craftsmen Eric M. Saperstein and Michael Pietras refuse to submit, and have begun the journey to tame this medium.

“From Brush to Bowl” is a short video illustrating the artistic process of creation. This shows a 70lb manzanita burl from its original form transitioning to an original bowl of art.

We are releasing pieces from our 2014 collection in our debut gallery event at Fortuna Fine Arts, LTD in New York, NY on October 9th. In addition we are offering a limited number of pieces at the Olana Museum in Hudson, NY. At this time we are seeking venues to exhibit our 2014 and 2015 collections and extending the option for direct purchase of a select inventory.

Please contact us for more information on an exhibition or for the purchase of a piece.

Thank you,

Eric M. Saperstein

We’re Kickstarting a Kickstarter Campaign!

Manzanita Burl Bowl #15OK – let’s talk American small business and artwork! We, Artisans of the Valley, have kickstarted a campaign on Kickstarter … we need a new lathe and apparently this is a method to get some funding! We are among the last of the true professional craftsman; we focus primarily on hand made museum quality custom furniture, sculpture, carvings, turnings, and antique restorations.

Please read the details of our campaign, we’re offering a generous rewards system that basically is pre-selling our bowls, vases, and vessels in order to fund the purchase of a new lathe.

Manzanita Burl Bowl #1This is an opportunity to get a great deal as we’ll be giving rewards that are “at least” the value of your contribution. This is a hint – you’re going to make out very well as we’ll make sure we overshoot with your return on investment. One of our feature materials is “Manzanita Burl” – a stubborn material full of tenacity and random inclusions that once tamed produces an amazing array of color and texture.

Please take a moment – if you’re able to help fund this project it will support us as artists and we will provide a great return on your investment.

Thanks!

Happy Holidays!

Happy Holidays from Artisans of the Valley!

As we way away 2012 and launch into 2013 we’ll be continuing to provide our unique array of services. Shown below is a custom oak bookcase / fireplace surround with a hand carved raised panel above the mantle.

This is a great example of how woodworking can blend into the warmth of a home. This isn’t a product feature photo; this is a holiday at home!

Artisans of the Valley Holiday Image

Here’s your traditional Christmas scene bellowing with the warmth of custom woodworking. This oak fireplace surround includes hand carved moldings, raised panel doors, a mantle, and a hand carved “Live Free or Die” eagle.

Colorful leather bound books, shiny brass, momentum, keepsakes, and awards and photos. Bookcases offer storage and display for your family treasures as well as your library. A comfortable recliner and obviously gifts at the ready for this scene to turn to utter wrapping paper carnage.

Now you may notice a fellow hanging out, not so much hiding out he’s obvious! His name is Smirnoff – the radioactive reindeer.

See it’s a much kept secret that the reindeer like many super heroes were forged in a nuclear accident. In his case, Smirnoff was a bit closer to the blast as compared to say Rudolf … only Rudolf’s nose glows so bright.

Now Smirnoff on the other hand is bright orange with glowing green eyes. He’s just too bright to pull/guide a sleigh or Santa would have to be wearing a welding mask and the other deer would get a sunburn.

So Smirnoff hangs out w/ his four ducky friends – all of which are always wearing sunglasses. Now Smirnoff’s job to be part of the radioactive reindeer brigade, and apparently it is their job, along with the yellow ducks, to drop off these crazy deviant elves that keep appearing all over the world.

Elves are apparently immune to radiation and are not impacted by his orange glow. So the whole plan seems to play out quite well, as Santa has his army of intelligence gathering elves and the means to transport them.

If you’re looking for this kind of warmth in your home, a comfort in your office, or an accent to a cabin … let us know we can design and build an assortment of custom installations which will enhance the appeal and value of your home.
